Social Media- Communication & Formats

Good ol’ Social Media. Has anyone not heard of TikTok? TikTok has recently become the new thing. Everyone is using it. It slightly reminds me of Vine. Oh man, did I love Vine. TikTok is the new video platform- like Vine was. TikTok consumes people's attention. I’ll be honest, I have a TikTok, but I do not go on it as much as some of my friends do. One positive to TikTok is that it allows people to share some amazing recipes, and some fun fitness hacks. 

Instagram is my time consumer. I love me some instagram. I think instagram has done a really good job of adapting to the new trends going on. I think instagram has been one of the most helpful and useful platforms recently. In the past I would rely on facebook, but now all I see on facebook is negativity. Everything has started to revolve around politics and the virus, that I don’t know what to trust and believe anymore. It has started messing with my head honestly. 

Lastly, lets talk about twitter and snapchat. I personally don’t have either of these platforms, but what I could guess is that twitter is most likely filled with politics right now, which is not my cup of tea. Snapchat on the other hand can be a good way to keep in contact with friends, but honestly you have text and phone calls you can use to stay in contact with people. Why send someone a 10 second video that they can never see again unless it's either pointless or sketchy? 

Overall, I think the only things that we can do to maintain the integrity of journalism is to rely on good sources for your information. All of these social media platforms are super fun don’t get me wrong, but it’s hard in our current day in age, to see information and know 100% that it’s reliable. Social media has given everyone the right to state their opinion all over whatever platform they please. I think it is very important for people to make sure the information they are receiving is true and fact checked. In the mean
